Investing in Prior Lake Parks & Community

With 15 lakes and 49 parks, the City of Prior Lake is a welcoming community known for its scenic outdoor spaces and wide range of recreational opportunities that help residents stay active and connected to the outdoors

After years of heavy use, our parks and trails need major repairs and upgrades to continue serving our evolving community.

Improving Our Parks, Trails and Recreation for Years to Come

After gathering input from residents, the city has developed a $60 million investment plan to update park amenities, improve trail connectivity, enhance access and meet the needs of our community.

This November, residents will consider a property tax increase to help fund improvements to our park and trail system for the next 20-plus years.

This website was created to share information and resources for residents about the proposed plan, the cost and tax impact, voting information and more.

Residents Have the Final Say

Because this is an important community decision, the City Council chose not to move forward on its own — instead, they’re giving residents the opportunity to decide. This plan was shaped by local input, and Prior Lake residents will have the final say on Election Day: Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

We encourage residents to connect with us and share their thoughts.

“Our parks and trails are the heart of Prior Lake, bringing people together and enhancing our quality of life. When we invest in our parks system, we’re investing in the well-being and future of our residents.”

-Mayor Kirt Briggs
